Governor Haley Barbour unveiled the e-Synchronist Business Information System, a new existing business tool to be used by cities and counties across Mississippi in 2004, in hopes to gain a better understanding of the companies in Mississippi’s economic portfolio.
- The web-based software program will help our economic development group determine what factors will assist businesses to expand and create new jobs by calculating the objective assessment of the company on such levels as: company value to the community, growth potential, and satisfaction in the community.
- Industry trends can be identified through studies that help develop legislation at the local, state, and national levels to make our industries more competitive.
- The specific approach of the program will allow area leaders to better understand individual companies and the overall business community in Tupelo/Lee County, while building relationships with company executives.
- While working with community-based partners such as the Mississippi Development Authority (MDA), North Mississippi Industrial Development Association (NMIDA), and Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), we can develop strategies and action plans to help existing businesses and industries become more profitable and successful. Ultimately, the program forms a true collaboration, overall benefiting Mississippi.

MEDIA PRESS ANNOUNCEMENT
August 23, 2006
In an effort to better serve the businesses and citizens of Tupelo/Lee County, the Community Development Foundation (CDF), in partnership with the Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) and the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), has embarked on a campaign to better understand our existing industry through utilization of the e-Synchronist Business Information System. The e-Synchronist software is licensed to MDA by Blane Canada, Ltd.
e-Synchronist is a software tool and interview method that enables CDF to gather information about existing business and industry in Tupelo/Lee County. The program began in September 2006 with CDF staff visiting company officials to ascertain information about their company and trends in their respective industries, as well as how they feel about a number of things from the local workforce to the community as a place to do business, utilities, and community services.
“The e-Synchronist approach will allow area leaders to better understand individual companies and the overall business community,” said David Rumbarger, President/CEO of CDF. “This information will give us a solid foundation for making economic development decisions and subsequently allocate resources accordingly.”
With the success of the initial visits, CDF gleaned a need to further expand this program into our service and business sector while at the same time continuing to serve our local existing industry.
The e-Synchronist system provides much needed insight into business retention and expansion of existing industries in Tupelo/Lee County and generates a basis for action.
e-Synchronist also assesses companies in such key areas as company growth potential, legislation affecting companies, forecasting economic opportunities, and company value to the community.
