The primary responsibility of the Economic Development Division
of the CDF is the recruitment, retention and expansion of
business and Industry in the Tupelo / Lee County area.
The Economic Development Division's program objectives and
primary areas of assistance include:

- Available Industrial Site Information
- Available Industrial Buildings
- Small Business Development Assistance
- State and Local Benefits and Incentives Assistance
- Ten-County Manufacturers Listing
The Foundation's basic objective is to strengthen the region through economic and community development projects with emphasis on creating new jobs. CDF has been three times selected as one of the top ten industrial development agencies in the nation by the Industrial Development Research Council in Atlanta and Site Selection Handbook. CDF's job recruitment endeavors have resulted in Lee County becoming the #1 manufacturing county for Mississippi.
The Tupelo Furniture Marketing Association, Inc. was founded in 1988 to better convey the buyer opportunities available through North Mississippi’s furniture manufacturers and the bi-annual Tupelo Furniture Market. The Furniture Market is operated under the auspices of the Association which is a nonprofit corporation governed by a 25-member Board of Directors. This Association oversees an annual operating budget of over $500,000 used primarily to increase buyer attendance to the bi-annual market. Marketing efforts are greatly enhanced through the cooperation and financial support of the Mississippi Development Authority and the City of Tupelo’s financial support from the Tupelo Convention and Visitors Bureau of $25,000 per market.
The Tupelo Furniture Marketing Association is headquartered at the Community Development Foundation where activities are coordinated and the staff members of CDF provide operational , logistical and professional support to the many projects undertaken by the Tupelo Furniture Marketing Association. Members of the Association are the Community Development Foundation, Market Place Furniture Showrooms and the Tupelo Furniture Market.
