The 37th Annual Industry Education Day event was held Thursday, August 1. The purpose of I-E Day is to bring together area educators and industrialists, to promote cooperation and collaboration, to enhance job opportunities for future employees, and to improve the overall economic climate of the region. I-E Day is considered to be an in-service training for participating teachers and is sponsored by area industries.
This year, Tupelo Public School District and Lee County Schools teachers and administrators from grades 6 – 12 attended a program at the Furniture Market Building Five. Speakers included Mr. Mike Eaton, President, Itawamba Community College and Ms. Jackie Hogan, General Manager, Human Resources, Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Mississippi, Inc. Teachers also received a K – 12 workforce development overview and were awarded various door prizes. Following the program, teachers then had the opportunity to tour various Lee County Industries.
