Hyperion Technology Group expanding in Tupelo, creating 25 jobs
Tupelo, Miss. (May 7, 2019) – Engineering services company, Hyperion Technology Group, Inc., is expanding operations in Tupelo and making a corporate investment of $500,000 that will create 25 jobs.
“We are excited about Hyperion’s expansion and the continued growth of this local company. These high-paying, high-tech jobs will be a great boost for our local economy,” said Tupelo Mayor Jason Shelton.
Hyperion Technology Group, which started in 2009 at the Renasant Center for IDEAs, provides custom electronic systems, such as embedded systems, signal processing, intelligent power and control systems, to government and industry consumers around the world. Hyperion’s expansion accommodates its rapid growth, which requires the company to relocate to a larger facility to fulfill additional contracts. Hyperion will move from its current 11,000 square-foot facility to a 48,000 square-foot facility formerly used as a beverage distribution center.
“We are proud to be a native Mississippi high-tech engineering research company. Since our beginning in 2009, we have received a tremendous amount of support from the governor, Mississippi Development Authority, the City of Tupelo and the Community Development Foundation as well as our federal and state legislators, without which we would not be as successful as we are today; we are very thankful for their ongoing support. The opportunities in Mississippi are endless, and we have been fortunate to be in a position to attract many customers from the United States and around the world to demonstrate the many opportunities Mississippi has to offer,” said Hyperion President and CEO Geoffrey Carter.
“I often tell people that it is a privilege to work with some of the smartest and most technically creative people in the world, and that includes our employees, the researchers at our state universities and the other companies we partner with in the state,” adds Carter.
The Mississippi Development Authority is providing assistance for building renovations, as well as a loan to the city of Tupelo for the purchase of the building. Hyperion will lease the facility on a long-term basis from the city.
“On behalf of the Community Development Foundation, we’d like to express our sincere gratitude to Hyperion Technology Group for choosing to expand and invest in our community by adding highly skilled technology jobs to our growing array of workforce opportunities. We also want to express our deep appreciation to the Mississippi Development Authority, Governor Bryant, the City of Tupelo and Mayor Shelton for their continued support of this project,” said Community Development Foundation Chairman Sam Pace.
Hyperion Technology Group currently employs 37 employees in Tupelo. The company plans to begin operations in its new facility in early summer 2019.
